My Style Icons

Hi everyone,

Today I would like to write someting about my favorite style icons. I love fashion and I really like to read other blogs and read fashion magazines. These two things and also streetstyle inspire me very much.

My first and actually favorite style icon is Alexa Chung. This British model, writer and presenter is famous for her style. Her style is tomboy but also very feminine and classic. I find that she portrays Brit Chic: neat and sophicticated but with an edge.  But she's also known for her buttoned up blouses. I do like those buttoned up blouses and I try myself to combine with skirts and jeans.

If I could change my wardrobe with someone else than it would be with Alexa.
And then I haven't wrote about her hair yet! I love her hair, it always looks like she has done nothing about it, that it falls just like that.

My other favorite style icon is Foxes. She is a singer from the UK. Her real name is Louisa Rose Allen. She has beautiful long brown hair and big brown eyes , most of the time her eyes are rimmed with a lot of eyeliner.
Her style is vintage with an edge; she combines older clothing with new fashion items like chunky sandals with a vintage Levi's and crop top.
Fun fact: Her mother owns a vintage store!

My last favorite fashion icon is Florence Welch. Florence is also a Brititsh singer of the band Florence + the Machine. Her style is vintage with a bohemien vibe. She wears beautiful long gowns but also wellies and oxfords. I like that she mixes everything and eventually it works out very nice.
Her hair has a beautiful  red colour combined with her pale skin. She wears a lot of  hats and beautiful paisley printed jackets.

I hope you like it and that I have inspired you with my favorite style icons!

Lots of love,

Emma

Ps. What are your favorite style icons?

Photography

Hello everyone,

Today I would like to show you some of my photographs I made with my new Canon 1200 D. I went out a couple of times and took my camera with me. Most of the pictures are pictures of landscapes and flowers and that sort of stuff.
I live in the middle of the Netherlands and around my village there are a lot of facilities , parks and estates where you can walk around and make photo's!

I start with the first time I took my camera with me and I was really struggling with it but eventually I worked it out!
Because I live in the Netherlands and we live underneath sealevel , we have polders. In the Middle Ages people used them to store water that came from sea or heavy rainfall. It's quite difficult to explain but it's very old and quite beautiful.
So somewhere in the polder there is this big old tree without any leaves or something. But because the polder is flat and there a not many trees this tree stands out.
I made this picture of grass because I was trying to get the grass sharp and the background a bit vague. (Sounds weird and vague but I hope you understand what I mean!)
A picture of a thistle among all kinds of grass. I like this one because it came out quite nice.

This is actually an overview of where I walked from the gate where I started and ended my walk.

The next place I went to was a garden of an estate nearby my house. The garden of the estate is build in a English country garden style; so there are a lot of trees, perfect green lawns of grass and a big pond with little isles. The paths are not straight but are quite bendy. I like the kind of style because it's not neat or modern.

A picture of one of the meadows attached to the estate.

Here is a picture of the pond with trees around it. I like the lighting of the picture and the trees hanging above the pond.

One of the lawns wth trees. I really love this. It's so beautiful and nice.

Again the pond with yellow water lilies. Here you can see the little isles in the pond. There are a lot of them! I actually don't know if it is a pond or it is a lake...

And this is the last one of the estate. This is also a lawn with trees but this lawn is next to the pond/lake thingy.

I really liked to make this pictures altough they are not that good or professional. I'm still trying different things out with my new camera. I'm still learning and some day they are amazing!

I hope you liked it and see you next time!
Lots of love,
Emma

14 Random facts

Hi everyone,

Welcome to my blog! This is my second attempt to a blog and this time I'm really going to try to do it right!
My name is Emma and I'm 17 years old. I live with my parents  in a small village in the middle of the Netherlands. In september I'm going to study in Amsterdam. My study is called Cultural Heritage and I'm really looking forward to it!
This was a short introduction of myself but I really want you to get to know me, so here are some random facts about me!

1. I'm the youngest of two children. Not quite random but my sister is eight years older than I am.
2. I like to read a lot , and I really mean a lot, of magazines; Glamour, Elle, Vogue, Cosmogirl, Cosmopolitan etc ,etc. I do read it al! All those magazines are really inspiring and have sometimes the most amazing photographs.
3. I like to take photo's with my Canon 1200 D. It's very new for me to take photo's with a reflex camera, but I really like it!
4. Peonies are my favorite flowers, that's why I named my blog after them. But I like poppies, roses and sweet peas (lathyrus) too.
5. My favrorite film is About Time with Rachel McAdams and Domhnall Gleeson. It's so funny but also so beautiful.
6. I like scones  with clotted cream and jam, exactly in that order.
7. With tea obviously. I love tea. I think I can not live without it, it's like a hug but from the inside. (It sounds weird , I know)
8.  I'm slightly obsessed with England; I like to go there and it feels like a second home to me. I like the people, the food, the shops, the culture, the clothes, the queen, the countryside, actually everything.
9. My favorite subjects in school were history ,arts and (of course) English. I really likes history because I find it really interesting where things come from and how old it is.
10. Altough you will think they are, but hummingbirds are not my favorite birds , robins are! I like robins because they are cute.
11. I like Bridget Jones.
12. And I like Downton Abbey; I have a crush on Matthew...
13. I tend to wear things that not many people have like vintage dresses. I think it's important to do and wear what you like and show that to people.
14. 14 facts because I like even numbers.

Maybe you'll find me quite a random of even mad person, but this is just the way I am. I like to be a bit different from others but I don't want to attract much attention.
I do apologize if there are mistakes in my grammar or spelling!

I hope you liked it!
See you soon!

Lots of love,
Emma
